MINUTES OF MEETING OF HOGSTHORPE PLAYING FIELDS COMMITTEE
HELD ON Wednesday 1st October 2025
1. Present: Cllrs D Hanson, F Wilson. Greg Ainsworth, Kath Hayes & Annie Maynard (Clerk)

3. Minutes of the meeting: The Minutes of the meeting held on Tuesday 3rd September 2025 were approved, and signed by the Vice Chair as a true and accurate record.

5. Car Boot report:
It has been agreed that the Car Boot stalls will be set up indoors from November not October as previously recorded, this has been due to good weather.
6. Maintenance – progress update
a) Patching of Playpark ground resin – no definite date so far, Clerk to chase this matter and report back at the next meeting.
b) Bent bar – this has not been sorted out, Committee to investigate.
c) Weeds around Playpark area – these have been strimmed and Greg Ainsworth (GA) will follow up.
d) Clear up and clean changing rooms – GA will investigate this and ask friends to help clear up. A new window has been ordered to replace the broken one.
e) Clear out of shed – this could not be done as there was too much rubbish in there. There were a lot of old footballs, and it was suggested to sell them or donate them to the local school, this will be reported back at the next meeting.
f) Replacement of bulbs in changing rooms and outside light – GA will source a qualified electrician to complete this and report back at the next meeting.
g) Oiling of shutters – to be actioned by Clerk.
h) Playing fields sign – further discussion is needed as GA suggested a new board and the removal of the rear sign. In the meantime, the Clerk will contact ELDC to ask for new signage at street level.
7. Risk assessments for changing rooms (including checking of showers, PAT testing, lighting progress update – GA will source someone to complete the PAT testing and the other items deferred to the next meeting.
8. Forward Planning update – It has been noted that cracks are starting to appear around the drain/manhole cover, DH to ask the contractor to return and put right. It has been requested to use Facebook more to raise our profile and inform the community of local events, this will be discussed further at the next meeting. There was discussion some time ago regarding selling part of the playing field land to the local school as they have no grass playing area. Since the discussion the head teacher has changed, and the Clerk will ask the new Principal to come to the next full council meeting to have a discussion of what they require
9. Next meeting – The next meeting will take place on Thursday 6th November 2025 from 5.00pm onwards.
