PFC July 2020 Minutes

Hogsthorpe Playing Field

Report for Open Air Meeting to be held Wednesday 27th July at 3pm

Finance

a) The balance currently stands at £3292.26, having paid for the concreting outside the changing rooms and installation of new disabled friendly doorway.

b) There is further expenditure necessary for repair to the young children’s swings as the cross beam is rotting. On examination by people who carries out playpark repairs, they recommended that the whole of the structure is replaced as the wood below the surface is also rotting. We are awaiting a quote but is expected to be around £800.

c) There has been no income as the summer fete had to be cancelled due to the Covid-19 outbreak. The deposits for stalls have been repaid but some elected to hold over the deposit until the next event and two elected to give as a donation.

d) ELDC have given a retail rebate due to Coronavirus so there are no rates to pay this year.

e) Electricity tariffs are set to increase but this will have little impact on the monthly bills.

f) Unfortunately, we have not been successful in any of our applications for grants with the exception of £500 from our District Councillor for the picnic area.

Events

a) It has not been possible to hold the annual Hogsthorpe Summer Fete this year due to Government Covid-19 restrictions.

b) Easing of the restrictions will now allow our monthly car boot sales to begin again. It is planned that the first will be held on Sunday 2nd August – set up time from 10am ready for 12 noon start. It is doubtful that there will be many stalls to begin with but this will hopefully grow until the last one planned for this year in October.

c) An event of a mini village carnival was organised by Kerry and the Good Neighbour Scheme with music and a picnic on the park. Although there were very few attendees, it was a pleasant day (even though gusts of wind threatened to blow the refreshment stall gazebo away). The cake stall organised by Elaine raised £34 to be split between Good Neighbour Scheme and the Playpark.

Future Development

Picnic area – After the lockdown and now that the school children are on holiday, Les and Mick will commence cutting down the trees and clearing the ground ready for the picnic area. Any other volunteer help they can get will be gratefully received.

The outdoor gym development has been put on hold for the time being until funding can be sourced.

Changing Room Equipment – Various items of equipment are needed for the changing rooms’ kitchen so that refreshments can be served on event days. It is proposed to ask the Parish Council for funding.
