Minutes Of Meeting Of Hogsthorpe Playing Fields Committee Held On Wednesday 4th March 2020

 

Present:

Others: Cllr B Hornby, Cllr M Banks & 6 members of the public

 

1. Minutes of meeting of 5th February 2020 were approved and signed by V Worley.

 

2. Report from Secretary/Treasurer

a) Bank balance stood at £7851.

b) There were no payments of accounts.

 

3. Grants Update

KH reported that she had made applications to Triton Knoll for £4140 and councillor grant of £500 for picnic area, to People’s Postcode Trust of £9000 for patio area, Postcode Community Trust of £13368 for Adult Outside Gym, and to Co-operative Society for between £500 and £1000. Outside Gym may need further consideration as she was doubtful of getting it.

 

4. Patio Area

LW had obtained quotes to dig out, lay hardcore and concrete the area outside the changing rooms to make a patio area and to replace the door with a wider door for wheelchair users. Quotes accepted of £2010 from JJ Slabs for groundwork and £1440 from Ambassador for door.

 

5. Future Plans

Picnic area – trees have been marked ready for removal to make room for picnic tables and chairs. The area will be bordered with decking and covered with weed killer sheeting and play bark.

 

6. Maintenance

a) Signage. AG had purchased playing field sign and EC had replacement names for contact signs. Both needed screwing in place.

b) LW and MC had examined the wire rope in the children’s play area and did not think it needed replacing. KH to contact inspector to find out why he had failed it.

c) Arrangements have been made to get the bins re-fixed.

d) MC asked that everyone look out for glass shards on the younger children’s playpark as he had noticed these on his daily inspection round.

 

7. Summer fete committee meeting update

Meeting of committee held on 2nd March. Preparations were going well. Hall has been filled with stalls – only outside space left now. Waiting for people to come back now with answers. More volunteers would be needed on the day. Trying to get school involved.

 

8. Flyer to residents – Car Book and Summer Fete information is in newsletter and would be mentioned again at the beginning of June. A separate flier to all properties would be done nearer the time again for advertising the event and to ask for volunteers on the day.

 

9. Date of next meeting

Next meeting was set for 1st April 2020.
